6th Grade:
Today you will utilize your knowledge of poetic elements to develop your own SLAM POETRY
Slam poetry, a form of performance poetry that combines the elements of performance, writing, competition, and audience participation.
Please follow the directions to complete the assignment
1. Open the link to the poem and download it
2. Read the directions
a. Be sure to choose a topic/subject that you are very passionate about.
b. The more you’re invested in the topic, the easier it will be to write about it and share your opinion.
c. First you must create a poem that is a minimum of 3 stanzas (“paragraphs” for poems that include about 4 lines each).
d. Once you have written your poem, you are to complete a few (2-3) rough read throughs to make sure that the message you intended to share is being communicated with your audience.
3. The worksheet is NOT EDITABLE!! Complete your work on a separate document and send it back to me on Google Classroom. If you are having difficulties, have your parents send a picture of your work on class dojo
