Good morning, Scholars! I'm really looking forward to our GOOGLE MEET TODAY.
I CAN: DESCRIBE HOW WORKING CONDITIONS IN NORTHERN FACTORIES LED TO TRADE UNIONS.
Yesterday we discussed advances in communication and agriculture. Can you imagine that Americans once communicated by telegraph using morse code? No texting! Steel-tipped plows and harvesting machines greatly increased productivity on farms.
Today we are going to examine the fact despite the many advancements there were areas of concern as the nation grew. Factories sprang up in the Northeast and Midwest, but the conditions were sometimes unfair and dangerous. Workers faced long hours and sometimes dangerous conditions in factories. Unbelievably, kids even worked long hours in some factories. These factors led to trade unions, groups of workers with the same skills. They thought they would have more power collectively rather than as individuals.
In addition, we will examine how African-Americans and women were treated in the workplace-and in a society as a whole.
Once again, I'm looking forward to discussing all of these topics in TODAY'S GOOGLE MEET!

America used the bomb to force Japan to surrender.
The bombs were dropped on Japan, but aimed at Russia.
The United States remains the only country in the history of the world to drop the atomic bomb. The United States justified its use of nuclear warfare on Japan arguing that by avoiding direct combat or putting boots on the ground saved thousands of American lives .
